Seed Starting
Seedlings can be purchased, of course, but there are perks to starting your own plants. When you start your own seeds, you'll find you have a much greater selection of flowers, vegetables and herbs to choose from. Old favorites like hollyhocks and less common varieties of herbs and perennials might not be available as grown plants.

There is still plenty of time to begin seeds indoors. Start with fresh seeds and a light potting/seed-starting mix in either peat or cell pots in trays. Use grow lights and heat mats to encourage optimum germination.
